Cycling Scotland #2. Falkland to Dundee

In St Andrews National Cycling Route 1 merged with EuroVelo Cycling Route and North Sea Cycling Route, which makes life easier in terms of navigation.


Pleasant parts of the route out of traffic, through military base and Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve with landmarks of Romans, Picts and Vikings. Ice House is one of them.

Pleasant pub The Tavern with classy interior of a back room with chess and antic books of  “live music” – local seniors came here to sing.

The bridge from St Andrews to Dundee is the dream of cyclist – a long and gentle down all the way. Just off the bridge is another dream – buffet, eat as much as you can for 7 f .  Indian cuisine with something new, Savayan – sweet macaroni cooked in milk, a few plates of which I eat while enjoyed wifi.

Lena Faber used to work as a journalist at a mainstream Russian newspaper, wrote books for a major publishing house, and directed her original concept on TV. In 2009, she moved to South Africa, taught at the university, took up running, and earned a silver medal at the World Masters Athletic Championship in California and, in the meantime, won an international photo contest with following up solo exhibition. In 2014 she "shut the door" and gone hiking the Appalachian Trail, cycling from Chicago to LA (US Route 66), from Maine to Florida, from London to Orkney, etc. Now in MidCoast, Maine.
